Community Service:

Our dedication to supporting those in need is exemplified through our involvement with Project Access, where we offer volunteer exams and surgeries to patients lacking access to medical care. For over a decade, we have served as On-Call Emergency Room Ophthalmologists covering major hospitals after hours, including Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas, and the Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside. Dr. Zaveri has served as the Chairman of Ophthalmology at Tri-City Medical Center.

We feel fortunate to have the opportunity to mentor students from UCSD, who have gained valuable experience by shadowing and assisting in our clinic. We are proud that our students have taken up careers in Global Health, Optometry, and Medicine, underscoring our commitment to community service and training the next generation of leaders in Eye Care.

Dr. Zaveri performed my cataract surgeries (one eye at a time) two years ago. The surgeries were quick and painless. My resulting distance vision is 20/20 in both eyes. I get 20/20 close-up vision by using cheap off-the-shelf reader glasses. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Last week, I needed to have a common laser surgery to fine-tune my vision. The YAG laser capsulotomy surgery was painless and it took less than 10 minutes.

I can tell that Dr. Zaveri and his staff are very concerned about their patients. Dr. Zaveri took his time with me to ask specific questions about my vision and overall health. I never felt rushed out of his office. It’s especially nice to find a doctor who is willing to take his time to get to know his patient and to do things carefully.

I was also impressed with his modern and thorough examination equipment. He was able to accurately examine my lenses, retina and the rest of my eyes and then show me his findings on his computer screen. It was fascinating and informative. I felt like I was fully informed and I was very comfortable with following Dr. Zaveri’s surgery and treatment recommendations.

In general, I am extremely pleased with Dr. Zaveri’s care before, during and after my surgeries.

Several years ago, I had to find a new ophthalmologist. I asked a number of doctors if they had any recommendations and the same names kept on coming up, Doctors Bainter and Zaveri. I have not been disappointed.

Both doctors are kind, knowledgeable, and patient. As a patient, I never feel rushed and have all my questions answered in terms I can understand. There has never been the slightest hint of any upselling or unnecessary testing or procedures. In fact, just the opposite. There is a true sense that the doctors care about you as a patient and I have the utmost confidence in both these doctors.

The office is very calm and well run with little to no wait times. The front desk is professional and polite. I can’t recommend Torrey Pines Eye Care enough.

My husband and I have been under the care of Maulik Zaveri, M.D. of Torrey Pines Eye Care for many years. He is knowledgeable, caring and always listens to our needs. Our appointments are never rushed and are very thorough. We look forward to being under his excellent care for the rest of our lives.
